Club Checking Account

I got a letter in the mail last week saying they are changing the terms of our checking account. I tried to scan it yesterday to attach to an email everyone, but my computer didn't want to do that....anyway......what it comes down to is we either have to write a certain amount of checks every month or keep a minimum balance of a certain amount or something else. Give me a break - I am doing this from memory after a few glasses of wine. Anyway, what it comes down to is we are going to start getting a $4.50 a month service fee if we don't meet their requirements and I don't think we will. My suggestion is to change to Capital Credit Union, where I happen to do my banking. Mark, my husband, has his Bass Club account there. CCU requires a $200 minimum balance to not have a service fee, and if you do get a service fee it is $3. Right now we have $700 + in the account so I don't think it would be hard to maintain a $200 minimum balance.

Let me know what you think. I will check the letter at the studio tomorrow and post more clear details. :)

  1. If you can find an account with less fees, I'd say go for it!

  2. I think that sounds like a good idea. I don't see where it really matters where the banking is, as long as it is convenient with a few locations around the area. I keep an account for an industry organization I belong to at Fox Cities CU, but we carry such a high balance I've never seen a fee.

  3. Ok. I will get in touch with Mary to set up a time for both of us to go and close the account at Northshore Bank. Both of us are on the account so I am sure both of us will have to be there to close it.
